Frequently asked questions about Coloured powder

Every day we receive questions about our Coloured Powder and organising a Colour Run, especially from people who are considering organising a School Colour Runs given their huge popularity and appeal.

Here we have the most frequently asked questions. If your question / answer is not here please feel free to Contact Us, we are always delighted to assist.

Will the powders stain clothes, skin, hair or outdoor surfaces?

No. The powders clean off all surfaces extremely easily. With the first wash clothes will clean perfectly. Shower, soap and shampoo will easily clean skin and hair. The first rains will clean off the grass and hard surfaces that powders fell on, or a quick hose will do the job.

Are the powders safe for everyone?

The powders are non toxic and skin friendly. We encourage participants with respiratory concerns to use with caution given that it would not be ideal for them to be present in any area of floating dust.

Some schools and community groups have overcome this concern by supplying people with a cheap dust mask which can be purchased from hardware stores.

For eye protection we recommend that people wear goggles or sunglasses.

The inclusion of children with food colouring allergies need to be carefully considered.

What are the colour run powders made from?

The traditional colours are made from food-grade cornflour and food colouring. We are happy to supply our supplier's material safety data sheet.
